About Maxies HOUSE

Maxie’s HOUSE is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public, parents, child caregivers and lawmakers about the need to ensure the safety and well-being of children in blended families.

Maxie’s HOUSE contains resources including case studies, facts and figures to aid multiple households and blended families in positively affecting a child’s life. It also strives to build and create awareness for public decision makers on the impact that living in multiple households has on a child’s life. Regardless of the caregiver, a child’s home environment should be safe and happy.

History

Maxie’s HOUSE was founded in 2012 by Dr. Dina Shacknai, mother of Max Shacknai. Max died tragically July 16, 2011, in Coronado, California. To honor his memory, sisters Dina Shacknai and Nina Romano built a non-profit organization to serve as the voice of children around the world living in multiple households and in blended families and be an educational resource for parents and child caretakers.
